Most applicants will undergo one round of interview, although some may be recommended to undergo further attachments in hospitals to further ascertain their interest and suitability.
MOHH is committed to informing successful candidates of their interview outcome latest at the end of the scholarship cycle by end June. Successful candidates will also be invited to attend individual or group consultation sessions with MOHH scholarship officers, where they can take the opportunity to seek direct clarification on any queries regarding their scholarship offer, university application, career matters, etc. We also welcome parents to join in the consultation sessions.
As part of the interview preparation, candidates should read up on the latest developments in Singapore’s public healthcare sector, particularly, for healthcare professions that they have been shortlisted for. In this regard, candidates can leverage on useful resources such as the
CARE TO GO BEYOND website to find out more about Nursing and the various Allied Health professions or speak to their school’s alumni/seniors who are healthcare scholars. We also encourage candidates to consider going for short job shadowing/ observation sessions at acute or community hospitals to gain more insights into their chosen profession.
The interview panel is chaired by a senior healthcare leader from one of the public healthcare institutions, with Nursing and Allied Health representatives as well as HR representatives from the healthcare clusters and MOHH forming the rest of the interview panel.
The interview panel will assess the candidate’s interest and fit for public healthcare, their suitability for the healthcare profession, as well as their leadership qualities. It will be helpful for candidates to demonstrate clear understanding of the profession that they are applying for, how they are suitable for this profession and how a healthcare scholarship will help them achieve their career aspirations.
We do offer the option of SKYPE interview, on a selective basis, mainly for overseas mid-term scholarship applicants who might not be able to travel back to Singapore to attend a face-to-face interview due to school commitments. Where possible, shortlisted candidates should attend the selection interview at MOHH.
MOHH will work with MINDEF to schedule male candidates who are serving NS to attend interviews on certain block-out dates. We will also provide a letter of support for male candidates to seek permission to book out of camp for their interviews, if required
